Why Vote For Bob?

Bob is Uniquely Qualified to Serve the Citizens of Jefferson County

I have had the honor and privilege to serve as County Assessor the past 3 years. In that time, I have worked hard to make sure that your assessments are fair and accurate. We have corrected hundreds of records to ensure that taxpayers are paying only their fair share. As the only state-licensed real estate appraiser in the race, I have the knowledge and skills to make sure that taxpayers are paying only their fair share.
In 2019, while taxpayers in other county saw huge increases to their assessments, most Jefferson County taxpayers’ assessments remained the same. My team and I were able to ensure compliance with State Law, without burdening taxpayers by a major residential reassessment.
One of the first things on my list to improve was the customer service within the Assessor’s Office. We implemented policies and procedures to make sure that the taxpayers’ experience with the office was fast and easy. In 2018, I worked with our software vendor to implement full e-filing of personal property assessments. Taxpayers can now easily file their assessments online and receive a confirmation that it has been filed. This year, 30,000 taxpayers took advantage of this new system. Saving them time, and saving our office thousands of taxpayer dollars in the process.
As a conservative, I believe that citizens do better with their own money than the government. My office is a model of how conservative principles actually work. In my first year in office, I reduced our office expenses by 43%. Due to e-filing and better procedures, our postage costs have been reduced by 33%. Even while cutting unnecessary expenses, I’ve been able to grow my reserve fund by over $500,000 since taking office. These are a few examples of how implementing better processes and procedures, and utilizing technology has helped my office save taxpayer dollars.
My wife Misty and I have been married 14 years and have three small children. We grew up in working-class families, and live in a great middle-class community in Arnold. I understand what families go through to make ends meet. The Ad Valorem Tax is a tax on real and personal property. The role of the assessor is to fairly and accurately value property based on market values. The office should not be in the business of generating revenue. We all work hard for our money.
As your Assessor, I’ve made sure that I work FOR YOU, not against you, by providing fair, conservative, and honest assessments in order to meet the requirements of State Law and serve the citizens of Jefferson County. I truly appreciate your vote on August 4th.

“I have a proven, conservative record of treating people with respect they deserve and not as revenue-generators, as many in government do. I have watched over their tax dollars as if it were my own, protected their rights, freedoms and liberties against overreaches of government, and worked hard to make Jefferson County more prosperous and economically successful than it was before. I have always put people and conservative principles ahead of politics.”
